The latest news from Super Luigi Bros header image.

Welcome to the Super Luigi Bros site news archive. This section contains archived news relating to the site such as additions of new content and features, competitions we ran/are running and anything from our affiliate sites that they'd like mentioning - by default its arranged in date order by most recent first though if you want to find an old article fast just type its name in the filter box & press enter.

We all remember the SNES version of Mario is Missing right? It's SMW style graphics and sound/music - how promising did it look until you actually played it!?  The little intro was reasonably good for an oldschool Mario game, you can see that below.

Mario is Missing (SNES) Intro

Mario is Missing - The first level - Rome, Italy.

I had some difficulty the first couple of times I played this in actually having a clue what was going on or what I was meant to be doing, upon finally working this out 10 years later I decided to dish out some punishment to myself and play this game all the way through. I recorded playthroughs of every level (City) separately just incase someone is sick enough to actually watch them. Why? Because as much as its not very good; its a Mario game, and I am now starting a project to play-through all Mario titles from the very oldest to the very newest (Any help appreciated - luke@classic-mario.net) .

You can check out the full playthrough at our Mario is Missing (SNES) Playthrough page.

If you look back on some of the historic Nintendo titles that we all know and love, Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario Kart, you can see just how far Nintendo has come in such a little space of time and it makes you proud to be a Nintendo fan.

We have past the time where Mario, as a character, just ran, jumped and zipped through pipes around The Mushroom Kingdom and are now graced with titles which see everyone's favorite Italian plumber play soccer, baseball, fight and even pull over a cat suit to gain new powers! Gaming as we know it has changed.

Arguably one of the most important changes, not only in Nintendo's development process but in gaming as a whole, is the introduction of online play. Remember when you used to grab family and friends and bunch together on the living room sofa to enjoy a race in Mario Kart 64, or maybe you preferred to prove that Mario was better than Bowser by giving him a good smashing in Super Smash Bros. Melee? Whatever your taste of multiplayer perfection it seems that it is now moving away from those fantastic memories and moving to you sat in your home playing whoever you want, regardless of if you know them or not, all over the world.

And whilst that is great, it's also a concern. Sure it's fantastic to jump in on some multiplayer action whenever you want but don't you miss the laughs and memories of seeing your friends reaction to you throwing a perfectly-aimed green shell or trying to not shout verbal abuse when you enter sudden death in Smash Bros and a Bomb-Omb decides to spawn above you? Well we're trying to bring that back, along with other fantastic events, bringing together gamers from all over the UK to enjoy what we love most; Nintendo videogames.

StreetPass West Midlands is a brand new StreetPass group with a difference. We know that you want real-life events to attend. We know that you love playing multiplayer games with other like-minded people. And we know that you want those awesome StreetPass hits. So why not do just that whilst giving gamers an alternative scene to the busy streets of London? That's where we come in!

We would really appreciate your support whether you live in the UK or not as whilst we are trying to focus on real-life events we will always be open to Wi-Fi events to keep gamers satisfied until those real-life events become a reality. You can find us on Facebook over at: http://www.facebook.com/StreetPassWestMidlands as well as on Twitter at: http://www.twitter.com/StreetPassWestM and chat to other Nintendo fans whilst we deliver directly to you, the latest Nintendo news and news on what will become some of the most fantastic events that you'll ever attend.

Hopefully we'll see you at one of our future events, just don't shout at us when we fire a blue shell from behind!

Hey all, this weeks update sees a number of things I'd like to let you know about.

I've got quite a bit to tell you so I've broken it down into categories, Luke is unfortunately still away with some pretty bad RSI, I for one hope it wasn't Mario induced ;-)

I am pretty excited to see the wheels in motion for our first competition on Facebook too, we will be looking to make the site a lot more interactive and engaging for our users in the coming weeks and months for you're enjoyment.

Help needed

  • We are looking for some elite Mario gamers to work on some LETS PLAY videos for The Mario Bros YouTube Channel so if you got some madskillz to showcase, get in touch on luke AT classic-mario DOT net. I recently tried to beat Special Cup on Mario Kart (SNES) 150cc, and dude am I weak these days, that first track is worse than Rainbow Road.
  • Not only that but we are also looking for Reviewers for the newest and for the upcoming Mario titles, we would need you're work to be exclusive to us though to avoid content duplication issues.
  • Submissions for Fan works such as games, artwork, fiction and comics are open!

New stuff

  • Our game sections for all the newer 3DS and Wii U titles have been added, they are basic for now but we'll add more info as and when its released for Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros, Yoshi's New Island, Mario & Sonic at Sochi 2014 Winter Games and of course Super Mario 3D World.
  • NEW section has been added to our FANS section - a voting station so you can have your say on popular Mario issues and debates, we'll also keep a record of all the poll results so you can fight it out on our facebook, g+ or twitter pages if you need to vent about the probable injustice ;-)
  • NEW section has been added to our FANS section - Funny Mario pictures, how I didn't add that a long time ago, I'll never know

Social media update

  • We've finally made it over the 3,500 Facebook likes mark, it didn't look like we ever would but as I write this we're on 3878 likes - Once we hit 4000 likes we will be having our first Facebook giveaway to win a free copy of Mario & Luigi: Dream Team.
  • We have started up on Fanpop Club for the Super Mario Bros series too, but I don't have much experience in using it, any advice on how to make it popular would be great.

Learning which poker sites to join is easy when you read the reviews on http://www.pokersitesonline.com.  The site caters to all players and even provides a guide to the top poker bonus.

Time for our next update, lots going on here at the moment, and lots more to come so here goes...

Help wanted - We are looking for people to provide LETS PLAY videos for our YouTube channel and to be featured on the site. And we are paying $20 USD per game (via PayPal) for each one. If its of the newer games please try to do it in HD. Contact luke AT classic-mario DOT net for more info.

Forums - After a very long time of not being active because it was riddled with spam etc our Super Mario Bros Super Forums are back up and should be a lot more spam proof than they once were, so why not create an account today so you can interact with fellow Mario fans around the world, chat, play games, get help in any Mario game or making your own fan works etc, and if you intend on publishing any fan stories, artwork, comics or videos about Mario you've come to the right place - with our new community system you can sign up, set up your own author profile & post your own work direct to superluigibros.com for the world to see!

Speaking of facebook... our next milestone on Facebook is fast approaching, we have nearly 4,500 Likes now, and once we get our google rankings back I'm sure this will grow quickly, on Google+ the Super Mario Bros Community we set up is growing nicely too, weighing in as I write this at 275 Mario fans, be nice guys and gals and help us get that to 300?

You know you play Mario too much when..... you do a LETS PLAY video series of Mario is Missing on the SNES. They should make people play that in Guantanamo bay.... definitely more Education than game but to give it one plus point, despite working in logistics for nearly 10 years - I actually did learn from it #shouldnthaveadmittedthat. I'll get these videos up on YouTube and the Mario is Missing (SNES) game page shortly... for anyone who has run out of paint to watch dry ;-)

Mario Collections showcase - a future section at superluigibros.com, I'd like to make a section out of peoples Mario collections. Since Mario first emerged all those years ago (30 now!) there has been crazy amounts of Mario merchandise, dvd's, games, accessories and a whole lot more crazy but super cool in its own right stuff, I'd love if any visitors to this site who have a nice little Mario collection would share that with us here, either in the form of photos w/ some writing about it, or in YouTube video format. I've done a short video of my Mario shelf which is right behind me as I write this which you can see below... Please do excuse my accent; I've always feared doing commentary on my YouTube videos due to risk of troll brutality :-/

Having shown off a host of new and upcoming titles like Mario Kart 8 at E3, Nintendo has now announced a tour of the UK that shows off the best of its existing catalogue on Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS XL.

Both the Wii U Den tour and Nintendo 3DS Festival of Fun will take in a series of outdoor, family-friendly venues across Britain and will encourage visitors to test out Nintendo’s handheld and home console offerings. This will include racing games like Mario Kart 7 on Nintendo 3DS and platform games that up to five people can take part in, like New Super Mario Bros. U on Wii U.

In addition to the wealth of Super Mario games that will be on display, Nintendo is also giving people the chance to try some of the slightly lesser-known titles in its canon. This means the Wii U Den tour will also include the fantastic LEGO CITY Undercover, Nintendo Land and a special preview of some other games due to hit stores later in the year.

Those visiting the Nintendo 3DS Festival of Fun will get to play Mario Kart 7, as well as the handheld entries in the LEGO franchise LEGO CITY Undercover: The Chase Begins and LEGO Legends of Chima: Laval’s Journey. As if that wasn’t enough, there will be stands hosting games like Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, as well as the awesome Luigi’s Mansion 2 and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros. Nintendo has promised there will be loads of competition prizes and has encouraged Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS XL owners to bring along their consoles to play with and StreetPass others.

The Wii U Den tour will come to Sunderland Air Show on July 27th and 28th, before moving on to Bristol Balloon Fiesta between August 8th and 11th and Eastbourne Airborne between August 15th and 18th. The event finishes up at Clacton Air Show with two days starting on August 22nd. For those interested in the Nintendo 3DS Festival of Fun, things kick off at Sunderland Air Show on July 27th and 28th, then move on to Nottingham Riverside Festival between August 2nd and 4th, and Williamson Square in Liverpool City Centre between August 22nd and 25th. This tour then wraps up at Bournemouth Air Festival, with four days of gaming between August 29th and September 1st.
