You can even shop for merchandise by character at the Nintendo UK Store

I've just been having a quick look on the Nintendo UK eStore following the announcement that they're going to start selling merchandise on there as well as the normal games and consoles.

Would you like some officially licensed apparel, some accessories for your console? or perhaps you'd like a Limited Edition Online Exclusive figurine? well you can now get them direct from the Big N.

But you better have deep pockets - I don't doubt the products are excellent quality - but £281.99 for a figurine (an admittedly impressive one) may be out of the range of quite a few people. The official release from Nintendo is below.

As of today store.nintendo.co.uk will not only provide customers with the opportunity to purchase new titles and long time favourites from the Wii, Wii U or Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS library of games and hardware but will also offer fans in the UK the chance to purchase official figurines, accessories, clothing and game guides.

Launching with over 170 new merchandise lines, including both exclusives and items previously only available outside of Europe, the Official Nintendo Online Store is a treasure trove for Nintendo fans and collectors.

  •       Figurines – as of today, Zelda fans will be able to purchase a selection of figurines including two limited edition figurines; a seventeen inch figurine of Link on Epona and a twenty-three inch Ganondorf  figurine. Metroid fans will also have the choice of two Official Nintendo Online Store exclusives; a nine and a half inch Samus Zero Suit figurine and the twelve inch Metroid Prime gunship figurine. Also available from today is an exclusive 15 inch Tanooki Mario figurine, the exclusive version features an additional red scarf and Tanooki Leaf on its own Question Mark Box Base

  •      Console accessories -  whether you’re looking for an exclusive case for your Nintendo 3DS XL, a case for your game cartridges or the red or green Wii U Mario Kart Wheel previously  only available in Japan, the Official Nintendo Online Store has accessories to choose from which will enhance your gaming experience or protect your console.

  •       Clothing and Apparel – initially focusing on four key Nintendo franchises - Mario, Luigi, The Legend of Zelda and Donkey Kong – the Official Nintendo Online Store Clothing and Apparel category will launch with a selection of items including Bags, Hats, Keyrings, Wallets, T-shirts, Socks and Hoodies

  •       Game Guides – Stuck on a certain level? As of today a selection of game guides will be available including Animal Crossing: New Leaf, New Super Bros. 2, Pikmin 3, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Mario Kart 8 as well as many others.

“We’re excited to be adding Merchandise to the Official Nintendo Online Store offering,” comments John Donnellan, Head of Ecommerce at Nintendo UK. “We’re often asked why Limited Edition or Official items aren’t available in the UK, so it’s great to be able to offer fans a hub for purchasing them. We’re looking forward to being able to broaden this selection by adding further limited edition and exclusive items to the site over the coming months.”

The Official Nintendo Online Store launched in October 2013 and offers Nintendo fans in the UK, the opportunity to select from the full range of software titles released in the UK for Wii, Wii U, Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS.  Customers ordering from store.nintendo.co.uk can opt for free delivery to any address in the UK (3-5 working days), however if you just can’t wait for the latest new release or if you need an item in a rush, then next day delivery is available from £3.95 for orders placed by 8pm.  All hardware purchased via store.nintendo.co.uk will benefit from an additional year’s warranty on top of the standard cover.

It's nice to see the UK & Europe finally get some official Nintendo merchandise from our favourite franchises, it has been notoriously sparse over the past few years.

Do any of this impressive range of merchandise catch your eye?
