Super Mario Allstars Review

Super Mario All-Stars is a 4 (or 5) in 1 Mario game.

This game features Super Mario Brothers, the Lost Levels, Super Mario Brothers 2, Super Mario Brothers 3, and Super Mario World (if you got the limited edition version). I will review each game, except for Mario World.

Super Mario Brothers

Story
One day, the peaceful Mushroom Kingdom was invaded by Bowser and his troops, and Bowser casted a spell on the Mushroom Kingdom, turning enemies into bricks, mushrooms, and many other things. There was only one person who could break the spell: Princess Peach. Bowser, knowing this, kidnapped the princess and stashed her in one of his 8 castles. Can Mario save Peach and become a true hero?

Graphics: 10/10
This game has the greatest graphics improvement ever. Much better than the Nintendo version. Instead of a pure blue/black background, the backgrounds have a much better design in them, like mountains, and I really love the backgrounds in World 2-1. Mario and Luigi also look much better, and these graphics are very colorful. Also, in the castles, you can see pictures of Bowser in the background. And the enemies have been redesigned very well too.

Gameplay: 10/10
The gameplay is the exact same thing as the NES version. You jump your way through 32 levels, and 8 of them are castles. 3 of the castles are maze like, and you must take a certain route to get to Bowser. You can also go through the game with different powers, like Big and Fire Mario.

Sound Effects: 10/10
The Sound Effects have also been improved in this game. Now you can hear a sound when a Hammer Brother throws a hammer, and Mario/Luigi has a cool sound effect when he goes down a pipe. And I love the sound of when Bowser falls into the lava. So, the sound effects are great.

Music: 10/10
The music has been improved in this game, and there is new music. The Super Mario Bros. theme sounds way better, and the wate level music sounds like you're at a carnival. The new music is nice too. When you're in a bonus room with coins, the new music is awesome. Also, there is new music when you fight Bowser. That music is awesome too.

Replayability: 10/10
It's fun playing this game again! Once you beat the game, you'll be able to play this game on a harder difficulty, and test your skills there. Also, you can replay this game to improve your score and get better at this game overall.

Overall: 10/10

Super Mario Brothers: The Lost Levels
This is almost the exact same thing as Super Mario Brothers, but oh well.

Graphics: 10/10
This game has the greatest graphics improvement ever. Much better than the Nintendo version. Instead of a pure blue/black background, the backgrounds have a much better design in them, like mountains, and I really love the backgrounds in World 8-1. Mario and Luigi also look much better, and these graphics are very colorful. Also, in the castles, you can see pictures of Bowser in the background. Also in the Lost Levels, there are new items and graphics, like the Poisonus Mushroom which damages Mario instead of healing him, and a Red Piranha Plant, which is faster and more dangerous. All enemies have been redesigned very well.

Gameplay: 10/10
This is almost like Super Mario Brothers, but this is much harder, even in World 1. You go through a total of 52 very difficult levels (20 are bonus levels). Some levels are the same as others, but at a harder difficulty. There are many more maze levels in this game, so watch out. Since this game is so hard, you'll even have to pull off amazing stunts like bouncing off 3 Koopa Troopas in the air to get to another area. At the beginning of the game, you can pick between Mario and Luigi. Mario can run and stop faster, while Luigi can jump much higher. So you'll need some skill to get past this game.

Replayability: 10/10
Once you beat this game, don't think you did it. Once you save Peach, there will be a World 9 if you beat all level without warping. Or if you did Warp and skipped levels, you will play Worlds A-D. All 5 worlds are really weird.

Mario Madness in SMB2

Super Mario Brothers 2

Story
One night, Mario was asleep, and he was dreaming he was climbing a long staircase. When he reached the top he saw a door. He opened it, and another world spread out before his eyes. He heard a voice crying for help to be freed from a spell, then suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck and Mario woke up in shock. He had fallen out of bed!

Later that day, Mario talked to Luigi, Peach and Toad about this weird dream he had. They decided to go for a picnic to cool things off. They went to a nearby cave for the picnic, and once they finished, they went inside the cave and found a large staircase. They climbed the staircase to the top, where they found a door. The door swung open to reveal the world that Mario saw in his dream! Danger awaits inside!

Music: 8/10
Ah, the overworld music. That music is the best in the game, but I can't stand the underworld! The boss battle music is pretty good, and so is the character select part. Decent music overall.

Sound Effects: 8/10
Decent sound effects too. Still the jumping effect, and the effect of picking of fruit does sound real, as you were picking up something from the ground. Birdo spitting is cool too, and everything else is good.

Graphics: 10/10
Wow, these graphics are great. They are colorful and easy to see, and the way Nintendo made the waterfalls were good too. The way logs came down them was also good. The characters are well drawn, and so are the enemies. Like Super Mario Brothers, the graphics have been improved.

Gameplay: 10/10
Pretty good gameplay too. You pick up fruit and throw it at enemies, and you can also pick up some enemies. There are 7 worlds and 20 levels to go through while you're throwing fruit around. In each level there is a boss (strange, isn't it?)

Replayabilty: 10/10
It's fun playing this game again! Once you beat this game, you can replay it again to get better, or check out other areas in this game.

Super Mario Brothers 3

Story
There are 7 rulers that watch over the game's 7 worlds, but their 7 magic wands were stolen by the 7 Koopa Kids, Bowser's mischievous children. You must reclaim all 7 wands back to bring peace to the world. You as Mario, got lots of powers to bring peace back. Travel through the 7 worlds to the castles.

Graphics: 10/10
Once again, good graphics. The graphics are colorful and easy to see, and Mario and Luigi have a better design. Enemies look cool, and Bowser's Koopa Kids look awesome. There is nothing bad with the graphics here.

Gameplay: 10/10
You can save the world with many powers: Super Mario, Fire Mario, and the new Racoon Mario, who can fly for a short time. There are now new suits, such as Hammer Suits, Tanoki Suits, and Frog Suits. From the map, you go through levels, maps, fortresses, and castles, running into the Hammer Brothers on the way. From the castles, you go to the airship, defeat the Koopa Kid, get the wand back, and bring it to the King.

Sound Effects: 10/10
New sound effects in this game, and they are good. They have the jumping, wand blasting, growing, shrinking, and much more here.

Music: 10/10
The music is awesome too. On the maps, it is good, the levels are good, the castles, the airships, everything on this category won't fall.

Replayability: 10/10
This is fun playing again. You can try to get better, explore more of the levels, do different stuff. There's a lot to on this game, even if you've beaten it. This game is the best in the Super Mario All-Stars.
