Nintendo Adventure Book 9 - The Crystal Trap

BOOK INFORMATION

The Crystal Trap was written by Matt Wayne and was the ninth of twelve in the Nintendo Adventure Books series - first published on 15th November 1993 by Mammoth Books in the U.K and Simon & Schuster, a division of Pocket Books in the U.S.

This was the first of two books in the series to be based on the Legend of Zelda series instead of the Super Mario series.

Plot Synopsis

Imprisoned in glass!

The Evil Wizard Ganon casts a spell that encloses the Triforces in impenetrable crystal cocoons. Because the Triforce of Courage is in Link's heart, he becomes encased in glass. Princess Zelda must free Link so together they can defeat Ganon and save Hyrule.

As in all Nintendo Adventure Books, you control the action. Only you can make the choices that allow Zelda and Link to outwit Ganon and his foul army. Help them crack codes, solve puzzles, conquer mazes and subdue enemies. You, Zelda and Link must save Hyrule or go down in final defeat!

The Scoring System

At the end of each Nintendo Adventure Book there is a scoring chart - in The Crystal Trap the scoring system worked as below

  • 800 points or above - "Wonder Warrior"

  • 600 to 799 points - "Hyrule Hero"

  • 400 to 599 points - "Apprentice Adventurer"

  • 200 to 399 points - "Gallant Greenhorn"

  • Less than 200 points - "Epic fail". OK it doesn't actually say that, but there is no title if you fail to achieve 200 points.
