Super Mario World Review

Some people don’t do to well in the bossiness world. Some people don’t do to good in their jobs. Well this Italian plumber does well in his world, and his job.

This game has a very special meaning to me as it was the second game I had ever gotten preceding my gift of Sonic 2, which should be covered some other time. What Mario hasn’t done now is make a shooting game. Don’t mention Yoshi’s Safari because that game was boring, and wasn’t about Mario and guns.

Although I don’t think Mario World was the best of the red capped wonders adventures, I think it is pretty high up there. For all I can tell Nintendo put 100% into the effort department here, and it defiantly shows. This game doesn’t ever get dull, and is a blast over and over again. This is a perfect one if you are having one friend over on a Friday night, but I have to warn you; you won’t want to stop playing…possibly ever!

Yoshi makes his first appearance here which is extremely cool. If I hadn’t known better I would have to say that the guys over at Nintendo were trying to feed us Mario games as if they were drugs. They are that addicting. What they did with the 2-player this time isn’t mind blowing but it’s surely creditable. Although it is 2-player the way it works is by switching on and off after levels or deaths. Sounds fun, doesn’t it?

All the levels look really nice. The backgrounds are quiet possibly the best yet seen on the Super Nintendo, and are quixotic by nature, surprising you by every turn. But of course, after so much play I have intentionally mastered the game, and know it as well as the back of my hand. I know the back of my hand well, I assure you of that.

With a vibrant neoteric feel, Mario always pulls off something spectacular wowing person by person, and bouncing upon their heads all at the same time. So if you don’t know too much about Mario he is a overall wearing red shirt tough guy with a M mounted on his squiggly hair. Yeah, he is that cool. Abrogating constantly from the norm Mario separates himself this time into a realm of his own class. He is now the king of gaming past, present, and hopefully the future.

Nintendo is surly in their branded humor of their trademark franchise with hidden inside jokes only long time geeks will get. Alright fine, I admit it, there aren’t a large mans portion of jokes here, but it does break the ice with its Japanese inspired pop like music, and techno rhythm.

So if you don’t know too much about Mario then you must be failing to understand video games as a whole. The whole topic has been based around the early jump, run foundations. If you have ever watched re-runs of the same tv show over and over again you know how gruellingly painful it is to get to the end sometimes, but you just have to watch. Well Mario is nothing like that! Every time you pick it up to play it is more and more fun!

Mario makes for the most convincing of all platforming heroes even matching the wits of everyone’s favorite hedgehog sonic. Who said white men can’t jump? Mario sure can. His jump is controlled directly by how and where you tap the ‘jump button.’ You are also able to shoot fireballs which can be an easy way to take out pesky enemies.

When you think of Mario do you think of bright intricate backgrounds that pull you into the action and don’t let go? Do you think of non-stop quick paced platforming action? Do you think of the nostalgia that it brings back to you. Although this may not be Mario’s greatest venture to the back of the forbidden woods of creativity, Nintendo still figures out a new way to renovate the gaming world. I applaud them.

Another really cool thing about the game is the ability to play as Luigi if you are second player which works well. Most of the levels are built up of raised pillars, and enemies that are out to get you. The game allows plenty of short cuts and easy ways through the game that will get you through at least until the end.

Overall, every Mario game I have ever played has been a hit. Well with the exceptions of Time Machine, Mario is Missing, and a couple other odd misfortunes. Mario 3 also released for the super Nintendo is incidentally the better game but to why you should go out and buy either one separate I have no opinion, get both immediately. Mario’s world is great, and you need to get into it now!
